Once I graduated animation school in 2008, I was fascinated with rigging and wanted to learn programming. I set out to learn Maya Embedded Language(MEL). I started writing scripts that would rig an arm or a leg and over the years it has grown to include: multiple rigging options for each limb, modular rigging additions like wings, near-infinite arms or legs, and ribbon driven limbs. I've packed it full of animation helpers, dynamic pickers, save and load features, set driven key UIs, and more. With this system, I can easily have a complete rig in a biped in ~30 minutes.
I needed a way to easily animate creatures and characters that I sculpt. I spent a ton of time up front learning programming through starting this project, and over the past 15 years iterating and rewriting as my expanded project needs required them.
